DALAMAN

Dalaman is in the South Aegean Region of our country and in the southeast of Muğla. It is surrounded by the Taurus Mountains in the north and west, and the Mediterranean Sea in the south. It is adjacent to Ortaca to the east, Köyceğiz to the northeast, and Fethiye to the west. Dalaman Plain is the most fertile plain of Muğla province and is among the most fertile plains of Turkey and the world. The Dalaman Stream, which separates our Mediterranean and Aegean regions, reaches the Mediterranean by crossing the whole plain from the northern slope of the mountains. On the south side of the district, there are water sources containing sulfur before reaching the sea between the mountain masses, and Kocagöl Kargın Lake and Kükürtlü Lake between the İncebel hills.

The climate of the district is typical Mediterranean climate and can also be defined as Subtropical climate. In accordance with this climate characteristic, the winters of the region are warm and rainy, and the summers are dry and hot.

Since the district is on the Muğla-Fethiye road and there are bus services from big cities every day, road transportation is uninterrupted and easy.

Dalaman district has one of the two international airports in Muğla province, and air transportation is provided by Dalaman International Airport.

History

Lukkas, Leks, Solymosians, Kavalas, Persians, Hellenes, Athenians, Romans, Arabs, Byzantines, Menteşeoğulları and Ottomans ruled over the lands of Dalaman. While Dalaman was a town connected to Köyceğiz district before, it was merged with Atakent Town in 1983 and became a district.

Rafting in Dalaman Stream

Dalaman Stream is among the most popular rafting tracks of recent years. The upper stage of the Dalaman Stream, which has two stages with different difficulty levels, is at the 3rd difficulty level and this stage can be passed with rafting boats. The second stage in the lower section is passed with small boats called “river-kayaking” and is recommended for those who try it for the first time. Children can also participate in this stage, which has 1 difficulty level.

 Dalaman Stream, Rafting-Kayaking Sub-Track” It starts in Demirli Village, Akköprü Mevkii and ends in Arpacik Mevkii after a track of about 12 km. Travel agencies organizing rafting tours provide transfers of groups to the starting point. Cold soft drinks are available at the starting point. Necessary warnings and promotional information about the river and technical equipment are given to the groups that are welcomed with the service. The “Lunch Break” point, which is approximately 5 km from Akköprü, can be reached within 1 hour. Food service is provided in the open air. After the meal, approximately 10 km of the track. rowing until the end and this enjoyable journey is followed by an animation-based swimming break.
